  • 350 milliliters (1 ½ cups) warm water

  • 2 grams (½ teaspoon) active dry yeast

Instructions

  1. In a large mixing bowl, combine the warm water and active dry yeast. Let it sit for about 5-10 minutes until it becomes frothy.
  2. In a separate bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour and salt.
  3. Once the yeast mixture is frothy, pour it into the bowl with the flour and salt. Stir until a shaggy dough forms.
  4. Transfer the dough onto a lightly floured surface and knead for about 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  5. Place the kneaded dough into a lightly greased bowl, cover it, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1-2 hours.
  6. After the dough has risen, gently punch it down and shape it into a round loaf.
  7. Place the shaped loaf onto parchment paper, cover it, and let it rise for another 30-60 minutes.
  8. Preheat your oven to 230°C (450°F) and place a Dutch oven or baking stone inside to heat up.
  9. Score the top of the loaf with a few shallow cuts.
  10. Carefully lift the parchment paper with the dough and place it into the hot Dutch oven. Cover and bake for 30 minutes, then remove the lid and bake for an additional 15-20 minutes.
  11. Remove the bread from the oven and let it cool on a wire rack for at least 30 minutes before slicing.
