- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 1/2 cup chopped nuts (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×13-inch baking pan.
- Prepare the cream cheese filling: In a bowl, beat cream cheese until smooth. Add powdered sugar and vanilla extract. Mix until creamy. Set aside.
- In a large bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, salt, and cinnamon.
- In another bowl, cream the softened butter. Add eggs, vanilla, and sour cream. Mix until smooth.
- Gradually stir the dry mixture into the wet ingredients until just combined. Fold in diced apples.
- Spread half of the apple batter in the prepared pan. Spoon cream cheese filling over it. Add remaining batter on top.
- For the topping: Combine brown sugar, flour, cinnamon, and melted butter. Stir in nuts if using. Sprinkle over the batter.
- Bake for 40–50 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
- Cool in pan for 10–15 minutes before transferring to a wire rack. Let cool completely before slicing.
