Description

A delightful treat that combines rich chocolate flavors with buttery croissants, soaked in a creamy custard, perfect for brunch or cozy family weekends.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 large croissants, preferably day-old
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 tablespoons cocoa powder
  • 1/2 cup chocolate chips (semi-sweet or dark)
  • Powdered sugar (for dusting, optional)
  • Butter for greasing the baking dish

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a baking dish with butter.
  2. Cut the croissants in half horizontally and arrange them in the baking dish, cut side up.
  3. In a large mixing bowl, whisk together eggs, whole milk, heavy cream, granulated sugar, vanilla extract, and cocoa powder until smooth.
  4. Pour the custard mixture evenly over the croissants, pressing down gently to soak.
  5. Sprinkle chocolate chips over the croissants.
  6. Cover with aluminum foil and bake for 25 minutes, then remove foil and bake for an additional 15-20 minutes until golden brown.
  7. Let cool for a few minutes, dust with powdered sugar, cut into squares, and serve warm.

Notes

  • Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to three days.
  • Reheat in the microwave or freeze individual portions wrapped tightly.
