- 4 large eggs
- 1 cup whole milk
- 1/2 cup heavy cream
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 2 tablespoons cocoa powder
- 1/2 cup chocolate chips (semi-sweet or dark)
- Powdered sugar (for dusting, optional)
- Butter for greasing the baking dish
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a baking dish with butter.
- Cut the croissants in half horizontally and arrange them in the baking dish, cut side up.
- In a large mixing bowl, whisk together eggs, whole milk, heavy cream, granulated sugar, vanilla extract, and cocoa powder until smooth.
- Pour the custard mixture evenly over the croissants, pressing down gently to soak.
- Sprinkle chocolate chips over the croissants.
- Cover with aluminum foil and bake for 25 minutes, then remove foil and bake for an additional 15-20 minutes until golden brown.
- Let cool for a few minutes, dust with powdered sugar, cut into squares, and serve warm.

- Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to three days.
- Reheat in the microwave or freeze individual portions wrapped tightly.
- Use day-old croissants for better absorption of custard.
