Ingredients

  • 1 loaf of bread (preferably brioche or challah)
  • 8 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 6 large eggs
  • 2 cups milk
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1/2 cup maple syrup (for serving)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the bread by cutting it into cubes and placing them in a greased baking dish.
  2. Mix the softened cream cheese with half of the sugar until smooth and spread it over the bread cubes.
  3. Whisk together the eggs, milk, remaining sugar, vanilla extract, cinnamon, and salt, then pour it over the bread and cream cheese layers.
  4. Cover the dish with foil and refrigerate for at least an hour or overnight. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and bake for 30 minutes covered, then remove the foil and bake for an additional 15-20 minutes until golden brown.
