Balsamic Strawberry Caprese

Balsamic Strawberry Caprese

  • Author: Chef Bella

Description

Strawberry Caprese is a fresh and vibrant twist on the classic Caprese salad, featuring juicy strawberries, creamy mozzarella, and aromatic basil drizzled with rich balsamic reduction. It’s a refreshing and colorful dish perfect for summer gatherings or a light appetizer.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups fresh strawberries, sliced
  • 8 oz fresh mozzarella cheese, sliced or in balls
  • 1 cup fresh basil leaves
  • 1/4 cup balsamic reduction (store-bought or homemade)
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil (optional)
  • Black pepper to taste (optional)
  • Sea salt to taste (optional)

Instructions

  1. Wash and dry the strawberries, then slice them into 1/4-inch thick rounds.
  2. If using large mozzarella, slice into similar-sized rounds. If using mozzarella balls, drain and pat them dry.
  3. On a serving platter, alternate layers of strawberry slices and mozzarella.
  4. Drizzle balsamic reduction generously over the top. Optionally drizzle olive oil.
  5. Season with black pepper and sea salt, and garnish with fresh basil leaves. Serve immediately.

Notes

  • Use vegan mozzarella or seasoned tofu for a dairy-free version.
  • Substitute olive oil with avocado or grapeseed oil if preferred.
  • Replace strawberries with peaches or nectarines for a seasonal variation.
  • Try a citrus vinaigrette in place of balsamic reduction for a zesty flavor.
