Description

Banana Cinnamon Rolls are a soft, fluffy, and gooey twist on the classic cinnamon roll, featuring ripe bananas in both the dough and filling, topped with rich cream cheese frosting for the ultimate sweet indulgence.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 packet (2 ¼ teaspoons) active dry yeast
  • ½ cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • ½ cup warm milk
  • ¼ cup unsalted butter (melted)
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 ripe bananas (mashed)
  • ½ cup brown sugar (packed)
  • 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
  • ¼ cup unsalted butter (softened)
  • 1 ripe banana (sliced)
  • 8 oz cream cheese (softened)
  • ½ cup powdered sugar
  • ¼ cup unsalted butter (softened)
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, mix warm milk, sugar, and yeast. Let it sit until frothy (about 5 minutes).
  2. Add melted butter, mashed bananas, and eggs. Mix well.
  3. Gradually add flour and salt. Knead for 8–10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  4. Place dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise for 1 to 1.5 hours until doubled in size.
  5. For filling, mix brown sugar and cinnamon. Roll dough into a rectangle and spread with softened butter.
  6. Sprinkle cinnamon-sugar mixture and top with banana slices.
  7. Roll the dough tightly into a log and cut into 12 equal pieces.
  8. Place rolls in a greased baking dish, cover, and let rise for another 30–45 minutes.
  9. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Bake for 25–30 minutes until golden brown.
  10. While cooling, mix cream cheese, butter, powdered sugar, and vanilla to make the frosting.
  11. Spread frosting on warm rolls and serve immediately.

Notes

  • Use overripe bananas for maximum flavor and moisture.
  • Ensure yeast is active by checking for froth before mixing dough.
  • Brush the rolls with cream before baking for extra softness.
  • Add chopped nuts or chocolate chips for variation.
  • Store leftovers in an airtight container or freeze for later.
