Ingredients
Scale
- 4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 packet (2 ¼ teaspoons) active dry yeast
- ½ cup granulated sugar
- 1 teaspoon salt
- ½ cup warm milk
- ¼ cup unsalted butter (melted)
- 2 large eggs
- 2 ripe bananas (mashed)
- ½ cup brown sugar (packed)
- 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
- ¼ cup unsalted butter (softened)
- 1 ripe banana (sliced)
- 8 oz cream cheese (softened)
- ½ cup powdered sugar
- ¼ cup unsalted butter (softened)
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Instructions
- In a large bowl, mix warm milk, sugar, and yeast. Let it sit until frothy (about 5 minutes).
- Add melted butter, mashed bananas, and eggs. Mix well.
- Gradually add flour and salt. Knead for 8–10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
- Place dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise for 1 to 1.5 hours until doubled in size.
- For filling, mix brown sugar and cinnamon. Roll dough into a rectangle and spread with softened butter.
- Sprinkle cinnamon-sugar mixture and top with banana slices.
- Roll the dough tightly into a log and cut into 12 equal pieces.
- Place rolls in a greased baking dish, cover, and let rise for another 30–45 minutes.
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Bake for 25–30 minutes until golden brown.
- While cooling, mix cream cheese, butter, powdered sugar, and vanilla to make the frosting.
- Spread frosting on warm rolls and serve immediately.
Notes
- Use overripe bananas for maximum flavor and moisture.
- Ensure yeast is active by checking for froth before mixing dough.
- Brush the rolls with cream before baking for extra softness.
- Add chopped nuts or chocolate chips for variation.
- Store leftovers in an airtight container or freeze for later.
