Description
Banana fritters are a sweet and crispy treat made from ripe mashed bananas and simple pantry ingredients, fried to golden perfection. Perfect as a quick snack or dessert.
Ingredients
Scale
- 3 ripe bananas, mashed
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon (optional)
- 1/4 cup sugar
- 1/2 cup milk (dairy or non-dairy)
- Vegetable oil (for frying)
Instructions
- Peel and mash the ripe bananas in a mixing bowl until mostly smooth.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, salt, cinnamon (if using), and sugar.
- Create a well in the center of the dry ingredients and pour in the mashed bananas and milk.
- Gently fold the mixture until just combined. Do not overmix.
- Heat vegetable oil in a skillet or deep pan over medium-high heat.
- Drop spoonfuls of batter into the hot oil, being careful not to overcrowd the pan.
- Fry for 2-3 minutes on each side until golden brown, then transfer to a paper towel-lined plate to drain.
- Serve warm, optionally dusted with powdered sugar or drizzled with honey or maple syrup.
Notes
- Use very ripe bananas for the best flavor and natural sweetness.
- Gluten-free flour can be used for a gluten-free version.
- Use almond or coconut milk for a dairy-free alternative.
- Add-ins like nuts, chocolate chips, or vanilla extract can enhance the flavor.
