Description

Blueberry Cinnamon Rolls combine juicy blueberries with warm cinnamon in a soft, pillowy dough, topped with a sweet lemon glaze for a delightful breakfast or dessert treat.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups fresh or frozen blueberries
  • 2 tablespoons orange juice
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1 1/2 tablespoons cornstarch
  • 2 tablespoons water
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, at room temperature
  • 3 1/2 cups all-purpose flour, plus more for dusting
  • 1 (.25 oz.) package Platinum Yeast (active dry yeast)
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 1/3 cup brown sugar
  • 4 tablespoons softened butter
  • 2 teaspoons cinnamon
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 2 tablespoons lemon juice
  • 1 tablespoon milk

Instructions

  1. Prepare the blueberry filling by cooking blueberries, sugar, and orange juice until softened. Thicken with cornstarch slurry and cool.
  2. Heat milk and melt butter in it; cool slightly.
  3. Mix flour, sugar, yeast, and salt in a bowl. Add milk mixture, water, and egg; mix well.
  4. Knead dough until elastic, then cover and let rise for 40-60 minutes until doubled.
  5. Roll dough into a 12×18 inch rectangle. Spread softened butter, cinnamon, and brown sugar over it.
  6. Spread half the cooled blueberry filling on the dough, roll tightly, and cut into 12 slices.
  7. Place slices in a greased dish, cover, and let rise 20-30 minutes.
  8. Bake at 350°F (175°C) for 18-20 minutes until golden brown.
  9. Whisk powdered sugar, lemon juice, and milk to make glaze. Drizzle over warm rolls and add remaining blueberry sauce.

Notes

  • Use almond or oat milk and dairy-free butter for a dairy-free option.
  • Replace all-purpose flour with gluten-free blend for gluten-free rolls.
  • Use erythritol or monk fruit sweetener to make it sugar-free.
  • Try raspberries, blackberries, or strawberries instead of blueberries for flavor variations.
  • Ensure milk is not too hot before adding yeast to avoid killing it.
  • Adjust flour quantity if dough feels too sticky during kneading.
