Description

Blueberry Monkey Bread is a warm, gooey dessert that combines the comforting flavors of cinnamon, soft biscuit dough, and juicy blueberries, making it perfect for breakfast or brunch.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 3 cups biscuit dough (store-bought or homemade)
  • 1 cup fresh or frozen blueberries
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar (for glaze)
  • 12 tbsp milk (for glaze)
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract (for glaze)
  • 1/2 tsp salt

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). If using homemade biscuit dough, mix all dry ingredients (flour, baking powder, sugar, and salt) in a bowl, then add cold butter and mix until coarse crumbs form. Gradually add milk until a dough forms. If using store-bought biscuit dough, cut it into small, one-inch pieces.
  2. In a separate bowl, mix granulated sugar and ground cinnamon. Roll each dough piece in the cinnamon-sugar mixture until well-coated.
  3. In a greased bundt pan, layer a handful of blueberries at the bottom. Add a layer of cinnamon-sugar coated biscuit pieces, then top with more blueberries. Repeat layers until all dough pieces and blueberries are used.
  4. Drizzle melted butter evenly over the dough and blueberry layers. Bake for 30-35 minutes until golden brown and a toothpick comes out clean.
  5. Let the bread cool in the pan for a few minutes, then flip it onto a serving platter.
  6. Serve warm, optionally drizzling with honey or maple syrup, or topping with whipped cream or vanilla ice cream.

Notes

  • Substitute blueberries with raspberries, chopped strawberries, or dried fruits like cranberries.
  • For a dairy-free version, use plant-based butter or coconut oil.
  • Replace sugar with coconut sugar or monk fruit sweetener for a lower-glycemic option.
  • Use sugar-free powdered sweetener for the glaze if you want a healthier version.
  • For added flavor, incorporate lemon zest into the dough or glaze.
  • Consider adding nuts like chopped pecans or walnuts for texture or mini chocolate chips for a sweet twist.
