Description
Blueberry Monkey Bread is a warm, gooey dessert that combines the comforting flavors of cinnamon, soft biscuit dough, and juicy blueberries, making it perfect for breakfast or brunch.
Ingredients
Scale
- 3 cups biscuit dough (store-bought or homemade)
- 1 cup fresh or frozen blueberries
- 3/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1 tsp ground cinnamon
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 1/2 cup powdered sugar (for glaze)
- 1–2 tbsp milk (for glaze)
- 1 tsp vanilla extract (for glaze)
- 1/2 tsp salt
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). If using homemade biscuit dough, mix all dry ingredients (flour, baking powder, sugar, and salt) in a bowl, then add cold butter and mix until coarse crumbs form. Gradually add milk until a dough forms. If using store-bought biscuit dough, cut it into small, one-inch pieces.
- In a separate bowl, mix granulated sugar and ground cinnamon. Roll each dough piece in the cinnamon-sugar mixture until well-coated.
- In a greased bundt pan, layer a handful of blueberries at the bottom. Add a layer of cinnamon-sugar coated biscuit pieces, then top with more blueberries. Repeat layers until all dough pieces and blueberries are used.
- Drizzle melted butter evenly over the dough and blueberry layers. Bake for 30-35 minutes until golden brown and a toothpick comes out clean.
- Let the bread cool in the pan for a few minutes, then flip it onto a serving platter.
- Serve warm, optionally drizzling with honey or maple syrup, or topping with whipped cream or vanilla ice cream.
Notes
- Substitute blueberries with raspberries, chopped strawberries, or dried fruits like cranberries.
- For a dairy-free version, use plant-based butter or coconut oil.
- Replace sugar with coconut sugar or monk fruit sweetener for a lower-glycemic option.
- Use sugar-free powdered sweetener for the glaze if you want a healthier version.
- For added flavor, incorporate lemon zest into the dough or glaze.
- Consider adding nuts like chopped pecans or walnuts for texture or mini chocolate chips for a sweet twist.
