Description

Brigadeirao is a rich and creamy Brazilian chocolate fudge flan that blends the smooth texture of traditional flan with the deep, indulgent flavor of chocolate brigadeiros.


Ingredients

  • 1 can (14 ounces) sweetened condensed milk
  • 1 can (12 ounces) evaporated milk
  • 1 can (13 ounces) coconut milk
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 cup sugar (divided)
  • 1 tablespoon unsalted butter
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • A pinch of salt

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a bundt or fluted pan with unsalted butter.
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine condensed milk, evaporated milk, coconut milk, eggs, cocoa powder, ½ cup sugar, butter, vanilla extract, and salt. Blend until smooth.
  3. In a small saucepan over medium heat, melt the remaining ½ cup of sugar to make caramel. Swirl gently until golden, then pour into the prepared pan to coat the bottom and sides.
  4. Pour the chocolate mixture into the pan over the caramel. Fill only to about ¾ full.
  5. Place the pan into a larger roasting pan and fill with hot water halfway up the sides. Bake in the oven for 50-60 minutes, or until the center is set.
  6. Cool the flan in the water bath for 10-15 minutes, then place on a wire rack to cool completely. Refrigerate for at least 4 hours or overnight.
  7. To serve, invert the flan onto a serving plate and let the caramel drizzle over. Slice and enjoy.

  • Add instant coffee for a mocha twist or nuts for added texture.
