  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup chopped pecans

Instructions

  1. In a saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat, stirring constantly until it turns golden brown and has a nutty aroma (about 5-7 minutes).
  2. In a large bowl, combine the brown sugar and granulated sugar. Pour the browned butter over the sugars and mix well.
  3. Beat in the eggs one at a time, followed by the vanilla extract, mixing until smooth and creamy.
  4. In another bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt. Gradually add this mixture to the wet ingredients, stirring until just combined. Fold in the chopped pecans.
  5. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and line an 8×8-inch baking dish with parchment paper. Pour the batter into the dish and spread it evenly. Sprinkle extra chopped pecans over the top for added crunch and visual appeal.
  6. Bake for 25–30 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and a toothpick inserted in the center comes out with a few moist crumbs.
  7. Let the snack squares cool completely in the pan before cutting into squares. Optionally, dust with powdered sugar or drizzle with a light glaze for extra sweetness.
