Description
Deliciously rich and buttery snack squares with a nutty flavor from pecans, perfect for any occasion.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 cup unsalted butter
- 1 cup brown sugar
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 2 large eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup chopped pecans
Instructions
- In a saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat, stirring constantly until it turns golden brown and has a nutty aroma (about 5-7 minutes).
- In a large bowl, combine the brown sugar and granulated sugar. Pour the browned butter over the sugars and mix well.
- Beat in the eggs one at a time, followed by the vanilla extract, mixing until smooth and creamy.
- In another bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt. Gradually add this mixture to the wet ingredients, stirring until just combined. Fold in the chopped pecans.
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and line an 8×8-inch baking dish with parchment paper. Pour the batter into the dish and spread it evenly. Sprinkle extra chopped pecans over the top for added crunch and visual appeal.
- Bake for 25–30 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and a toothpick inserted in the center comes out with a few moist crumbs.
- Let the snack squares cool completely in the pan before cutting into squares. Optionally, dust with powdered sugar or drizzle with a light glaze for extra sweetness.
