Description

This luxurious butterscotch mousse is light, creamy, and melts in your mouth, making it a perfect dessert for festive gatherings or simple indulgence.


Ingredients

  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1/2 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter
  • 1/4 cup whole milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 tablespoon unflavored gelatin
  • 2 tablespoons cold water
  • Pinch of salt
  • 1/2 cup additional whipped cream (for folding)

Instructions

  1. In a small bowl, sprinkle the gelatin over cold water and let it bloom for 5 minutes until it becomes jelly-like.
  2. In a saucepan over medium heat, combine brown sugar, butter, milk, and salt. Stir until smooth and bubbling. Cook for 2 more minutes, then remove from heat.
  3. Add the bloomed gelatin to the warm butterscotch mixture and stir until fully dissolved. Mix in vanilla extract and allow to cool slightly.
  4. Whip the heavy cream in a large bowl until soft peaks form. Fold in the cooled butterscotch mixture gently until fully incorporated.
  5. Spoon the mousse into serving dishes. Refrigerate for at least 4 hours or overnight until set. Serve chilled.
