Description

Caramel Apple Pie Bombs are delightful, bite-sized treats that combine warm spiced apples and creamy caramel sauce wrapped in flaky pie crust. Perfect for fall gatherings or cozy indulgence.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 3 cups Granny Smith apples, peeled and diced
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1 tablespoon all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup caramel sauce (store-bought or homemade)
  • 2 refrigerated pie crusts (or homemade)
  • 1 egg (for egg wash)
  • 1 tablespoon milk (for egg wash)
  • Optional: Whipped cream
  • Optional: Extra caramel sauce
  • Optional: Chopped nuts (e.g., pecans or walnuts)

Instructions

  1. In a medium bowl, mix diced apples with sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, lemon juice, and flour. Set aside.
  2. Let refrigerated pie crusts sit at room temperature for 10–15 minutes. Roll out to 1/8 inch thickness and cut into 4-inch circles.
  3. Place 1 tablespoon of apple filling and 1 teaspoon of caramel sauce in the center of each circle. Fold into half-moons, seal edges by pinching, and press with a fork.
  4. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper. Whisk egg and milk together for egg wash and brush over pie bombs. Optionally, sprinkle with granulated sugar.
  5. Bake for 25–30 minutes or until golden brown. Let cool slightly before serving. Serve with whipped cream, extra caramel, or chopped nuts if desired.

Notes

  • You can use Honeycrisp or Braeburn apples for a sweeter flavor.
  • Make it dairy-free by using plant-based butter in the crust and coconut milk caramel.
  • To make gluten-free, use store-bought or homemade gluten-free pie crust.
  • Optional toppings like chopped pecans or walnuts add texture and flavor.
