Description

A delightful Caramel Apple Upside Down Cake that combines the sweetness of caramel with the tartness of apples, perfect for any occasion.


Ingredients

  • 4 medium apples, peeled and sliced
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter
  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 cup milk

Instructions

  1. In a saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the brown sugar and stir until the mixture is smooth and bubbly. Pour this caramel mixture into the bottom of a greased cake pan.
  2. Place the sliced apples on top of the caramel in a decorative pattern.
  3. In a mixing bowl, combine the flour, baking powder, salt, and ground cinnamon. In another bowl, cream together the granulated sugar and eggs until light and fluffy. Add the vanilla extract and milk, mixing well. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, stirring until just combined.
  4. Pour the cake batter over the arranged apples in the pan. Bake in a preheated oven at 350°F (175°C) for about 35-40 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. Let it cool for a few minutes before inverting onto a serving plate.
