Description

Caramel Crackers are an easy, crispy, gooey treat made with saltine crackers, buttery caramel, and melted chocolate. Perfect for holidays, parties, or a quick dessert fix.


Ingredients

  • 1 sleeve of saltine crackers (or your preferred brand)
  • 1 cup unsalted butter
  • 1 cup brown sugar, packed
  • 1 cup chocolate chips (optional)
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Optional toppings: sea salt, crushed nuts, or candies

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicone mat.
  2. Arrange the saltine crackers in a single layer on the prepared baking sheet, breaking some if needed to fill gaps.
  3. In a saucepan over medium heat, melt the butter. Add the brown sugar and stir continuously. Bring to a gentle boil for 3–4 minutes, then remove from heat and stir in the vanilla extract.
  4. Pour the caramel mixture evenly over the crackers, spreading it to cover all surfaces.
  5. Bake for 10–12 minutes until the caramel bubbles and turns golden brown. Remove from oven and let cool slightly.
  6. Sprinkle chocolate chips over the warm caramel layer. Let them sit for a couple of minutes, then spread melted chocolate evenly.
  7. Cool completely at room temperature or in the refrigerator. Once set, break or cut into pieces and serve.
