Description
A delightful treat that combines sweet and salty flavors with creamy caramel ice cream and a crunchy pretzel crust.
Ingredients
Scale
- 2 cups pretzel crumbs (about 10–12 pretzels)
- ½ cup unsalted butter, melted
- 1 quart vanilla ice cream, softened
- ½ cup caramel sauce (plus extra for drizzling)
- ½ teaspoon sea salt (plus extra for garnish)
- 1 cup whipped cream (store-bought or homemade)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). In a bowl, mix crushed pretzels and melted butter until well combined. Press this mixture into the bottom of a pie dish to form a crust. Bake for 8-10 minutes, then let it cool completely.
- In a large bowl, take the softened vanilla ice cream and stir in the caramel sauce and sea salt until well combined. You can swirl the caramel into the ice cream for a marbled effect if desired.
- Once the pretzel crust has cooled, pour the caramel ice cream mixture into the crust, smoothing the top with a spatula. Drizzle additional caramel sauce on top for extra flavor.
- Cover the pie with plastic wrap and place it in the freezer for at least 4 hours, or until the ice cream is firm.
- Before serving, remove the pie from the freezer and let it sit at room temperature for about 5-10 minutes to soften slightly. Top with whipped cream, drizzling additional caramel sauce over the top, and sprinkle with a pinch of sea salt for garnish.
Notes
- For a gluten-free option, use gluten-free pretzels.
