Cherry Almond Danish Twists are a delightful pastry that combines the sweet and tart flavor of cherry preserves with the nutty aroma of almond extract, perfect for breakfast, brunch, or as a sweet treat.

- 1 sheet puff pastry (thawed if frozen)
- 1/2 cup cherry preserves
- 1 teaspoon almond extract
- 1/4 cup powdered sugar (for dusting)
- 1/4 cup sliced almonds
- 1 egg (for egg wash)
- 1 tablespoon water (for egg wash)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a small bowl, whisk together the egg and water for the egg wash.
- Roll out the puff pastry sheet on a lightly floured surface and cut into 6 equal rectangles.
- Mix cherry preserves with almond extract and place 1 tablespoon of filling in the center of each rectangle.
- Make cuts about 1 inch apart on both sides of the filling and twist the strips over the filling.
- Brush the tops of the pastries with the egg wash.
- Sprinkle sliced almonds over the top of each Danish twist.
- Bake for 15-20 minutes until puffed and golden brown.
- Cool slightly on a wire rack and dust with powdered sugar before serving.
- Serve warm or at room temperature.
Notes
- Store leftovers in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 2 days.
- For longer storage, refrigerate for up to a week or freeze for up to 2 months.
- To reheat, place in a preheated oven at 350°F (175°C) for 5-10 minutes.
