Description

Cherry Almond Danish Twists are a delightful pastry that combines the sweet and tart flavor of cherry preserves with the nutty aroma of almond extract, perfect for breakfast, brunch, or as a sweet treat.


Ingredients

  • 1 sheet puff pastry (thawed if frozen)
  • 1/2 cup cherry preserves
  • 1 teaspoon almond extract
  • 1/4 cup powdered sugar (for dusting)
  • 1/4 cup sliced almonds
  • 1 egg (for egg wash)
  • 1 tablespoon water (for egg wash)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a small bowl, whisk together the egg and water for the egg wash.
  3. Roll out the puff pastry sheet on a lightly floured surface and cut into 6 equal rectangles.
  4. Mix cherry preserves with almond extract and place 1 tablespoon of filling in the center of each rectangle.
  5. Make cuts about 1 inch apart on both sides of the filling and twist the strips over the filling.
  6. Brush the tops of the pastries with the egg wash.
  7. Sprinkle sliced almonds over the top of each Danish twist.
  8. Bake for 15-20 minutes until puffed and golden brown.
  9. Cool slightly on a wire rack and dust with powdered sugar before serving.
  10. Serve warm or at room temperature.
