Description

Chocolate Cherry Pie is a decadent dessert that combines rich chocolate with sweet, slightly tart cherries in a flaky, buttery crust, perfect for any special occasion or indulgent treat.

  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, chilled and cubed
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 cup ice water
  • 2 cups fresh or frozen cherries, pitted
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 tablespoons cornstarch
  • 1/4 teaspoon almond extract (optional)
  • 1/2 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1 tablespoon unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • Whipped cream (for serving)

Instructions

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine flour and salt. Add the chilled butter and mix until the texture resembles coarse crumbs.
  2. Add ice water gradually, mixing until the dough comes together. Shape into a disk, wrap in plastic wrap, and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes.
  3. In a medium saucepan, combine cherries, sugar, cornstarch, cocoa powder, and lemon juice. Cook over medium heat for 5-7 minutes, stirring, until thickened. Remove from heat and stir in chocolate chips until melted. Let cool slightly.
  4. Roll out the chilled dough on a lightly floured surface and fit into a 9-inch pie tin. Trim excess and prick the bottom with a fork.
  5. Pour the cherry chocolate filling into the crust. Optionally, sprinkle extra chocolate chips on top.
  6. Bake in a preheated oven at 350°F (175°C) for 30-35 minutes, until crust is golden and filling is bubbly.
  7. Remove from oven and allow the pie to cool for at least 1 hour before serving to allow the filling to set.
