Description
Chocolate Magic Custard Cake is a unique dessert made from a single batter that transforms into three magical layers: a fluffy mousse top, creamy custard center, and fudgy brownie-like base, all with rich chocolate flavor.
Ingredients
Scale
- ½ cup (1 stick) unsalted butter, melted
- 2/3 cup granulated sugar
- 4 large eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 2/3 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
- 2 cups milk, warmed
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9-inch round cake pan and line the bottom with parchment paper.
- In a large bowl, whisk together the melted butter and granulated sugar until glossy and combined.
- Add eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Stir in the vanilla extract.
- Sift in cocoa powder and flour gradually, stirring gently to avoid lumps. The batter should be smooth but slightly runny.
- Slowly add the warmed milk and salt, mixing until fully combined. The batter will be thin.
- Pour the batter into the prepared pan. Bake for 40–45 minutes or until the top is set and a toothpick inserted into the top layer comes out mostly clean.
- Let the cake cool completely in the pan on a wire rack before slicing. This allows the layers to set properly.
Notes
- Use almond or coconut milk and vegan butter for a dairy-free version.
- Substitute gluten-free flour for a gluten-free option.
- Use natural sweeteners like stevia for a lower-sugar alternative.
- Try adding instant coffee granules or orange zest for flavor variations.
