- 1 chocolate cake base (homemade or store-bought)
- 6 oz dark chocolate (for ganache)
- 1/2 cup heavy cream (for ganache)
Instructions
- Prepare the chocolate cake base and let it cool completely.
- In a bowl, melt 8 oz of dark chocolate and let it cool slightly.
- Whip 1 cup heavy cream with sugar and vanilla extract until soft peaks form.
- Fold the whipped cream gently into the melted chocolate, then fold in the orange zest and juice to create the mousse.
- Spread the mousse evenly over the chocolate cake base. Chill in the refrigerator for 2–3 hours.
- To prepare the ganache, heat 1/2 cup heavy cream until it simmers. Remove from heat and whisk in 6 oz chopped dark chocolate until smooth.
- Let ganache cool slightly, then pour over the chilled mousse layer. Spread evenly.
- Refrigerate the cake for another hour or until set.
- Garnish with additional orange zest or cocoa powder if desired. Slice and serve.
