Description
Cinnamon Apple Chips are a healthy and flavorful snack made from thinly sliced apples coated in cinnamon and lightly sweetened, then slowly baked until crisp. Perfect for all ages and any season.
Ingredients
Scale
- 4 McIntosh apples (cored and sliced 1/8 to 1/4 inch thick)
- 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
- 1 teaspoon granulated sugar (optional)
- Cooking spray
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 200°F (93°C).
- Core and thinly slice the apples to 1/8–1/4 inch thickness for even baking.
- Optional: Soak slices in lemon water to prevent browning.
- In a bowl, toss apple slices with ground cinnamon and granulated sugar (if using) until evenly coated.
- Spray a baking sheet with cooking spray or line it with parchment paper. Lay apple slices flat in a single layer without overlapping.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 2 to 3 hours, checking occasionally. Chips should be dry but slightly soft as they will crisp more as they cool.
- Remove from oven and let the chips cool completely on the baking sheet.
- Store cooled apple chips in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 4 days.
Notes
- Try different apple varieties like Fuji or Honeycrisp for varied flavors.
- Skip the sugar or use alternatives like erythritol for a sugar-free version.
- For a different taste, add nutmeg or allspice to the seasoning mix.
- Ensure slices are evenly cut to avoid uneven baking.
