Description

Cinnamon Apple Chips are a healthy and flavorful snack made from thinly sliced apples coated in cinnamon and lightly sweetened, then slowly baked until crisp. Perfect for all ages and any season.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 McIntosh apples (cored and sliced 1/8 to 1/4 inch thick)
  • 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon granulated sugar (optional)
  • Cooking spray

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 200°F (93°C).
  2. Core and thinly slice the apples to 1/8–1/4 inch thickness for even baking.
  3. Optional: Soak slices in lemon water to prevent browning.
  4. In a bowl, toss apple slices with ground cinnamon and granulated sugar (if using) until evenly coated.
  5. Spray a baking sheet with cooking spray or line it with parchment paper. Lay apple slices flat in a single layer without overlapping.
  6. Bake in the preheated oven for 2 to 3 hours, checking occasionally. Chips should be dry but slightly soft as they will crisp more as they cool.
  7. Remove from oven and let the chips cool completely on the baking sheet.
  8. Store cooled apple chips in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 4 days.

Notes

  • Try different apple varieties like Fuji or Honeycrisp for varied flavors.
  • Skip the sugar or use alternatives like erythritol for a sugar-free version.
  • For a different taste, add nutmeg or allspice to the seasoning mix.
  • Ensure slices are evenly cut to avoid uneven baking.
