Description
Cinnamon Roll French Toast is the ultimate breakfast indulgence. Made with slices of cinnamon swirl bread dipped in a warmly spiced custard, cooked to golden perfection, and topped with a creamy vanilla glaze, it’s everything you love about cinnamon rolls and French toast combined in one decadent dish.
Ingredients
Scale
- 8 slices of cinnamon swirl bread
- 3 large eggs
- 1 cup milk (or dairy-free alternative)
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
- Butter or oil for cooking (e.g., coconut oil)
- 1 cup powdered sugar
- 2 tablespoons milk (for glaze, can use dairy-free)
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract (for glaze)
Instructions
- In a mixing bowl, whisk together eggs, milk, vanilla, cinnamon, and nutmeg until smooth.
- Heat a lightly greased skillet over medium heat.
- Dip each slice of cinnamon swirl bread into the custard mixture, coating both sides quickly.
- Place the soaked bread on the skillet and cook for 2–3 minutes per side, until golden and crisp.
- In a separate bowl, mix powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla extract to create the glaze. Adjust milk to desired consistency.
- Transfer French toast to a serving plate and drizzle generously with glaze.
- Serve immediately and enjoy warm.
Notes
- Don’t over-soak the bread to prevent sogginess.
- Use thicker-cut bread for a more satisfying texture.
- The glaze can be flavored with maple extract or cinnamon for variety.
- Add toppings like fresh fruit, chopped nuts, or a sprinkle of cinnamon sugar for extra flair.
- French toast is best served fresh but can be reheated in a toaster oven.
