Description

Cinnamon Sugar Swirl Muffins are a delightful treat that combines the warm, comforting flavors of cinnamon and sugar in a soft, fluffy muffin. Perfect for breakfast, brunch, or as a sweet snack any time of the day.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar, packed
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar (for topping)
  • 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon (for topping)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a muffin tin with paper liners or grease it with non-stick spray.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, granulated sugar, brown sugar, baking powder, ground cinnamon, and salt until well combined.
  3. In a separate bowl, beat the eggs. Add the milk, vanilla extract, and melted unsalted butter, mixing until smooth.
  4. Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients. Gently fold the mixture together using a spatula until just combined.
  5. In a small bowl, mix together the additional granulated sugar and ground cinnamon for the swirl filling.
  6. Spoon about 1 tablespoon of muffin batter into each muffin cup. Sprinkle a teaspoon of the cinnamon sugar mixture on top of the batter. Then, add another tablespoon of muffin batter on top of the cinnamon sugar layer.
  7. Using a toothpick or a skewer, gently swirl the batter and cinnamon sugar together in each muffin cup to create a marbled effect.
  8. Place the muffin tin in the preheated oven and bake for 18-20 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center of a muffin comes out clean.
  9. Remove the muffins from the oven and allow them to cool in the pan for about 5 minutes. Then, transfer them to a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

  • Store your muffins in an airtight container at room temperature for up to three days.
  • If freezing, wrap each muffin in plastic wrap and place them in a freezer bag. They can be frozen for up to three months.
