- 1/3 cup light brown sugar
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 2/3 cup white sugar
- 1/2 cup butter, softened
- 2 eggs
- 1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 3/4 teaspoons baking powder
- 1/2 cup milk
- 2 apples, peeled and chopped
- Powdered sugar (for glaze)
- 1–2 tablespoons milk (for glaze)
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9×5-inch loaf pan.
- In a small bowl, mix 1/3 cup brown sugar and 1 teaspoon cinnamon. Set aside.
- In a large mixing bowl, cream together 2/3 cup white sugar and 1/2 cup softened butter until fluffy. Beat in eggs one at a time, then stir in vanilla extract.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together flour and baking powder. Gradually add to the creamed mixture, alternating with milk. Stir until smooth.
- Pour half of the batter into the prepared pan. Top with half the apples and half the cinnamon-sugar mix. Add remaining batter, then top with the remaining apples and cinnamon-sugar. Swirl gently with a knife.
- Bake for 30 to 40 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean or with a few moist crumbs.
- Let the bread cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
- For glaze, mix powdered sugar with a little milk until smooth and drizzle over the cooled bread.
