Description
A delightful dish that combines rich flavors with a creamy texture, featuring Cajun spices for a kick.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 lb (approximately 450 g) ground turkey
- 8 oz (about 225 g) penne pasta
- 1 cup (240 ml) heavy cream
- 2 tablespoons Cajun seasoning
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 medium onion, diced
- 1 cup bell peppers, diced (use a mix of colors for visual appeal)
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 1/4 cup chopped fresh parsley (for garnish)
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- Boil a large pot of salted water, add penne pasta, and cook until al dente. Drain and set aside, reserving about 1/2 cup of the pasta cooking water.
- In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add diced onion and sauté for 2-3 minutes until translucent. Add minced garlic and diced bell peppers, cooking for another 4-5 minutes until tender.
- Add ground turkey to the skillet, season with Cajun seasoning, salt, and pepper. Cook until browned and fully cooked, about 5-7 minutes.
- Reduce heat to low, pour in heavy cream, and stir well. Simmer for a couple of minutes, adding reserved pasta water if the sauce is too thick.
- Add cooked penne pasta to the skillet, tossing to coat with the creamy sauce. Stir in grated Parmesan cheese until melted.
Notes
- Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
- Reheat in a skillet over low heat, adding a splash of milk or broth to loosen the sauce.
- For freezing, do so before adding cream, then stir in cream after thawing and reheating.
