Description

A delightful dish that combines rich flavors with a creamy texture, featuring Cajun spices for a kick.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb (approximately 450 g) ground turkey
  • 8 oz (about 225 g) penne pasta
  • 1 cup (240 ml) heavy cream
  • 2 tablespoons Cajun seasoning
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 medium onion, diced
  • 1 cup bell peppers, diced (use a mix of colors for visual appeal)
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1/4 cup chopped fresh parsley (for garnish)
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Boil a large pot of salted water, add penne pasta, and cook until al dente. Drain and set aside, reserving about 1/2 cup of the pasta cooking water.
  2. In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add diced onion and sauté for 2-3 minutes until translucent. Add minced garlic and diced bell peppers, cooking for another 4-5 minutes until tender.
  3. Add ground turkey to the skillet, season with Cajun seasoning, salt, and pepper. Cook until browned and fully cooked, about 5-7 minutes.
  4. Reduce heat to low, pour in heavy cream, and stir well. Simmer for a couple of minutes, adding reserved pasta water if the sauce is too thick.
  5. Add cooked penne pasta to the skillet, tossing to coat with the creamy sauce. Stir in grated Parmesan cheese until melted.

Notes

  • Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
  • Reheat in a skillet over low heat, adding a splash of milk or broth to loosen the sauce.
  • For freezing, do so before adding cream, then stir in cream after thawing and reheating.
