Description

Crescent Cheese Danishes are easy-to-make pastries featuring flaky crescent dough filled with a rich, sweet cream cheese filling. Perfect for breakfast, brunch, or dessert, they offer a delicious balance of sweet and savory flavors.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 can of refrigerated crescent roll dough (8 oz)
  • 8 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 egg yolk (optional)
  • 1 tablespoon all-purpose flour (for dusting)
  • Powdered sugar (for serving, optional)
  • Fresh fruit or fruit preserves (for topping, optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a bowl, mix softened cream cheese, granulated sugar, vanilla extract, and egg yolk (if using) until smooth.
  3. Unroll crescent dough on a lightly floured surface and press seams together if needed.
  4. Cut the dough into triangles or squares. Add 1–2 tablespoons of the cream cheese mixture to the center of each piece.
  5. Fold the dough over the filling and pinch the edges to seal.
  6. Place pastries on the baking sheet and bake for 12–15 minutes or until golden brown.
  7. Allow to cool slightly. Dust with powdered sugar or top with fruit or preserves if desired. Serve warm or at room temperature.

Notes

  • Use vegan or dairy-free cream cheese for dietary preferences.
  • Add lemon zest or almond extract for a flavor variation.
  • Fresh berries can be folded into the cream cheese for added texture and flavor.
  • Ensure seams in the crescent dough are well-sealed to prevent leaks.
  • Store leftovers in an airtight container and reheat briefly in the oven for best texture.
