Description

Earl Grey Tea Tiramisu is a fragrant and creamy twist on the classic Italian dessert, layered with Earl Grey tea-soaked ladyfingers and a rich mascarpone cream, dusted with cocoa and optional dark chocolate shavings.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1 cup mascarpone cheese
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 3 large eggs, separated
  • 1 tablespoon pure vanilla extract
  • 2 cups strong brewed Earl Grey tea, cooled
  • 1 package (8 ounces) ladyfingers
  • Unsweetened cocoa powder for dusting
  • Dark chocolate shavings for garnishing (optional)

Instructions

  1. Prepare 2 cups of strong Earl Grey tea by steeping 4–5 tea bags in hot water for 5–10 minutes. Remove tea bags and allow to cool completely.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk egg yolks and granulated sugar until pale and fluffy (about 3–5 minutes). Fold in mascarpone cheese and vanilla extract until smooth.
  3. In a separate bowl, whip the heavy cream until soft peaks form (about 4–6 minutes), then gently fold into the mascarpone mixture.
  4. Quickly dip each ladyfinger into the cooled Earl Grey tea and place in the bottom of a serving dish to form a layer.
  5. Spread half of the mascarpone mixture over the soaked ladyfingers. Repeat with another layer of dipped ladyfingers and remaining cream mixture.
  6. Dust the top with unsweetened cocoa powder and optionally garnish with dark chocolate shavings.
  7. Cover with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 4 hours, preferably overnight, to allow the dessert to set and flavors to meld.

Notes

  • Use gluten-free ladyfingers for a gluten-free version.
  • Dairy-free options include coconut cream and dairy-free mascarpone alternatives.
  • Do not oversoak the ladyfingers to avoid sogginess.
  • Chilling overnight provides the best flavor and texture.
