Description
A refreshing and easy-to-make dessert featuring a creamy, tangy filling on a crunchy graham cracker crust, perfect for hot summer days.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 ½ cups graham cracker crumbs
- ½ cup unsalted butter, melted
- ¼ cup granulated sugar
- 1 can (14 ounces) sweetened condensed milk
- ½ cup fresh key lime juice
- 1 tablespoon lime zest
- 1 cup heavy whipping cream
- 2 tablespoons powdered sugar
- Lime wedges for garnish
Instructions
- In a medium bowl, combine the graham cracker crumbs, melted butter, and granulated sugar. Mix until the crumbs are evenly coated and resemble wet sand.
- Line an 8×8-inch (20×20 cm) baking dish with parchment paper, leaving some overhang for easy removal. Press the graham cracker mixture firmly into the bottom of the dish to create an even layer. Place the crust in the freezer for about 15 minutes to set.
- In a large bowl, whisk together the sweetened condensed milk, fresh lime juice, and lime zest until well combined.
- Remove the crust from the freezer and pour the lime filling over the chilled graham cracker crust. Spread it evenly with a spatula.
- Cover the baking dish with plastic wrap or aluminum foil and place it in the freezer. Freeze for at least 4 hours, or until the filling is firm.
- In a medium bowl, beat the heavy whipping cream and powdered sugar with an electric mixer on medium-high speed until soft peaks form.
- Once the bars are fully frozen, remove them from the baking dish using the parchment paper overhang. Cut into rectangular shapes and top each bar with a dollop of whipped cream and a sprinkle of lime zest. Garnish with lime wedges on the side.
Notes
- Store leftover bars in an airtight container in the freezer for up to 2 months.
- Let bars sit at room temperature for 10-15 minutes before serving for easier slicing.
- For a stronger lime flavor, add more lime zest to the filling.
