Description

Homemade Cheeze-Its are crunchy, cheesy bite-sized snacks made with sharp cheddar, butter, and simple seasonings. They’re perfect for gatherings, movie nights, or anytime snacking.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 8 ounces shredded sharp cheddar cheese
  • 4 tablespoons salted butter, softened
  • 1/2 teaspoon seasoning salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 23 tablespoons ice water

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). In a mixing bowl, combine shredded cheddar cheese and softened butter. Mix until creamy and well blended.
  2. Add seasoning salt and garlic powder. Mix well until everything is evenly incorporated.
  3. Gradually mix in the flour. If the dough is dry, add ice water one tablespoon at a time until it holds its shape.
  4. Wrap the dough in plastic wrap and refrigerate for one hour.
  5. On a floured surface, roll out the dough to about 1/8 inch thickness.
  6. Cut into 1-inch squares or use small cookie cutters for fun shapes.
  7. Place squares on a parchment-lined baking sheet. Bake for 12 minutes or until golden and crisp.
  8. Let cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes, then transfer to a wire rack. Enjoy!

Notes

  • Use freshly grated cheese for best texture and flavor.
  • Chill the dough to ensure a crispy final product.
  • Watch baking time closely to prevent burning.
  • Try variations like paprika or cayenne for a spicy kick.
  • Store in an airtight container for up to one week.
