Ingredients
Scale
- 8 ounces shredded sharp cheddar cheese
- 4 tablespoons salted butter, softened
- 1/2 teaspoon seasoning salt
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 2–3 tablespoons ice water
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). In a mixing bowl, combine shredded cheddar cheese and softened butter. Mix until creamy and well blended.
- Add seasoning salt and garlic powder. Mix well until everything is evenly incorporated.
- Gradually mix in the flour. If the dough is dry, add ice water one tablespoon at a time until it holds its shape.
- Wrap the dough in plastic wrap and refrigerate for one hour.
- On a floured surface, roll out the dough to about 1/8 inch thickness.
- Cut into 1-inch squares or use small cookie cutters for fun shapes.
- Place squares on a parchment-lined baking sheet. Bake for 12 minutes or until golden and crisp.
- Let cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes, then transfer to a wire rack. Enjoy!
Notes
- Use freshly grated cheese for best texture and flavor.
- Chill the dough to ensure a crispy final product.
- Watch baking time closely to prevent burning.
- Try variations like paprika or cayenne for a spicy kick.
