Description

Homemade Kool-Aid Licorice Ropes are chewy, colorful candy ropes flavored with vibrant Kool-Aid powder, perfect for kids’ parties or nostalgic treats.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup light corn syrup
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1 package (0.13 oz) Kool-Aid powder (your choice of flavor)
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 4 tablespoons unflavored gelatin powder
  • Additional granulated sugar for coating (optional)

Instructions

  1. Lightly grease a flat baking dish, clean countertop, or use silicone molds.
  2. In a medium saucepan, combine sugar, corn syrup, water, Kool-Aid powder, and salt. Stir to mix well.
  3. Bring the mixture to a simmer over medium heat, stirring frequently. Let simmer for 2 minutes, then remove from heat.
  4. Sprinkle gelatin slowly into the hot mixture while stirring continuously to avoid clumping.
  5. Add vanilla extract and mix until smooth and glossy.
  6. Let the mixture cool for 10 minutes. Pour into prepared molds or surface and shape into ropes using a spatula.
  7. Allow to set at room temperature for 1 hour until firm. Cut into desired lengths.
  8. Optional: Roll in granulated sugar for a sweet coating. Enjoy or store for later use.

Notes

  • To avoid gelatin clumps, sprinkle slowly and stir gently.
  • Measure ingredients accurately for ideal texture.

  • Use different Kool-Aid flavors for colorful layers.
  • Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 2 weeks.
  • Can be frozen for up to 2 months if wrapped tightly and sealed.
