Instructions
- Activate the yeast by combining warm water and sugar, then sprinkle yeast and let sit until frothy.
- Mix the dry ingredients by whisking together flour and salt in a large bowl.
- Combine wet and dry ingredients by adding the yeast mixture and melted butter to the flour mixture, stirring until a shaggy dough forms.
- Knead the dough on a floured surface for 8-10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
- Let the dough rise in a greased bowl for 1-2 hours until doubled in size.
- Shape the loaf by punching down the dough, rolling it into a log, and sealing the seams.
- Let the shaped loaf rise in a greased pan for 30-45 minutes until it rises above the rim.
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Bake the bread for 30-35 minutes until golden brown and hollow when tapped.
- Cool the bread in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely before slicing.
