Description
Kool-Aid Gummy Treats are fun, fruity, and chewy homemade candies made with Kool-Aid drink mix, perfect for kids and nostalgic adults alike.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 cup Kool-Aid drink mix (any flavor)
- 2 cups granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup corn syrup
- 2 cups water
- 4 packets unflavored gelatin (around 1 oz total)
- 1/2 tsp citric acid (optional)
- 1/4 cup cornstarch (for dusting, optional)
Instructions
- Prepare your workspace by gathering all ingredients and utensils, and setting out silicone gummy molds.
- In a medium saucepan, combine Kool-Aid, granulated sugar, and water. Stir well.
- Sprinkle in the unflavored gelatin while whisking constantly to avoid clumps. Let sit for 5 minutes to bloom.
- Place the saucepan over medium heat, stirring continuously until the mixture begins to simmer. Do not let it boil.
- Reduce heat and simmer for 5 more minutes until everything is fully dissolved and blended.
- Remove from heat and pour into gummy molds. Optionally, stir in citric acid just before pouring for tanginess.
- Let the molds cool to room temperature, then refrigerate for 4–6 hours until set.
- Unmold the gummies and toss with cornstarch if desired to prevent sticking.
Notes
- You can mix different Kool-Aid flavors for a unique blend.
- Use lemon juice instead of citric acid for a natural tangy twist.
- Try fruit purees for an extra fruity texture and flavor.
- Agar-agar or pectin can be used instead of gelatin for a vegan version, though texture will vary.
