Description

Mixed Berry Crisp is a cozy, fruit-filled dessert featuring sweet and tart berries topped with a buttery oat streusel. Baked until golden and bubbly, it’s a delightful blend of soft, juicy filling and crispy topping, perfect for summer or fall gatherings.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 5 cups mixed berries
  • ¼ cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • ½ teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • ¾ cup rolled oats
  • ½ cup packed brown sugar (light or dark)
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • ½ cup cold unsalted butter, diced
  • Vanilla ice cream, for serving (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and lightly grease an 8-inch square or 8×11-inch baking dish.
  2. Place the mixed berries into the prepared dish. Sprinkle granulated sugar, cornstarch, and cinnamon over the berries and gently stir to coat.
  3. In a separate bowl, combine rolled oats, flour, brown sugar, and salt.
  4. Add diced cold butter to the dry mixture. Use your fingers, pastry cutter, or forks to blend until coarse crumbs form.
  5. Evenly sprinkle the streusel topping over the berry mixture.
  6. Bake for 35–40 minutes, or until the topping is golden and the berry filling is bubbly and thickened.
  7. Remove from the oven and let cool slightly. Serve warm, optionally with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream.

Notes

  • Fresh or frozen berries can be used—no need to thaw frozen berries first.
  • For a gluten-free version, substitute flour and oats with gluten-free alternatives.
  • Customize the fruit mix with peaches or apples for variety.
  • Use coconut oil or vegan butter for a dairy-free option.
  • Adjust sugar to taste based on the sweetness of your berries.
