Description

Orange Sherbet is a refreshing and creamy frozen dessert bursting with bright citrus flavor. Made with fresh orange juice, zest, and a blend of milk and cream, it’s the perfect treat for hot summer days and festive occasions.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups freshly squeezed orange juice
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 1⁄2 tablespoons orange zest
  • 1/8 teaspoon kosher salt
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1/2 cup heavy whipping cream

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, whisk together orange juice, sugar, orange zest, salt, and vanilla extract until the sugar is fully dissolved.
  2. Slowly add the milk and heavy whipping cream to the mixture, whisking gently until well combined.
  3. Pour the mixture into an ice cream maker and churn for 20–30 minutes until it reaches a soft-serve consistency.
  4. Transfer the churned sherbet to a freezer-safe container, press plastic wrap directly on the surface, seal with a lid, and freeze for at least 4 hours or overnight until firm.

Notes

  • Use fresh orange juice for the best flavor—avoid bottled juice.
  • To make it dairy-free, substitute milk and cream with coconut or almond milk.
  • You can experiment with other citrus fruits like lemon or lime for variation.
  • Adding berries can create a mixed fruit twist to the sherbet.
