Description
A delicious twist on the classic campfire treat, combining marshmallows, Rice Krispies, chocolate, and graham crackers.
Ingredients
Scale
- 6 cups Rice cereal
- 4 cups mini marshmallows (or 1 bag, about 10 oz)
- 1/2 cup butter (1 stick)
- 1 cup graham cracker crumbs
- 1 cup chocolate chips (semi-sweet or milk chocolate)
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- Pinch of salt (optional)
Instructions
- Grease a 9×13-inch baking dish with butter or cooking spray to prevent sticking. Set aside.
- In a large saucepan over low heat, melt the butter. Once melted, add the mini marshmallows and stir continuously until they are completely melted and smooth.
- Remove the saucepan from heat and stir in the vanilla extract and a pinch of salt (if using). Mix well to combine.
- Gradually add the Rice Krispies cereal to the melted marshmallow mixture. Stir gently but thoroughly until all the cereal is evenly coated.
- Fold in the graham cracker crumbs and half of the chocolate chips (reserve the other half for topping). Mix until well combined.
- Pour the mixture into the prepared baking dish. Using a spatula or your hands (lightly greased), press the mixture down firmly and evenly into the pan.
- Sprinkle the remaining chocolate chips over the top of the pressed mixture, gently pressing them in to ensure they stick.
- Allow the treats to cool at room temperature for about 30 minutes or until set. For quicker cooling, you can place them in the refrigerator for about 15 minutes.
- Once set, cut the treats into squares or rectangles. Serve immediately or store in an airtight container for up to a week.
Notes
- Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to a week.
- For a vegan option, use dairy-free butter and marshmallows.
- For gluten-free, ensure the cereal is certified gluten-free.
