- 500 grams ground chicken (about 1 pound)
- 1/4 cup honey (60 ml)
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 tablespoons soy sauce (30 ml)
- 1 tablespoon fresh ginger, grated
- 3 green onions, chopped (plus extra for garnish)
- 1/2 cup breadcrumbs (about 50 grams)
- 1 large egg
- 1 tablespoon sesame oil (15 ml)
- Black pepper, to taste
- Olive oil, for frying
Instructions
- In a large bowl, combine the ground chicken, minced garlic, grated ginger, soy sauce, honey, sesame oil, breadcrumbs, and the egg. Season with black pepper to taste. Mix everything together until well combined.
- Using your hands, take small portions of the mixture and roll them into balls, about 1 inch in diameter.
- In a large skillet, heat a drizzle of olive oil over medium heat. Add the meatballs in batches and cook for about 5-7 minutes, turning occasionally, until golden brown and cooked through.
- In a small saucepan, combine the remaining honey, soy sauce, and minced garlic. Bring to a simmer over low heat until it thickens slightly, about 3-5 minutes.
- Pour the honey garlic glaze over the cooked meatballs in the skillet and gently toss to coat. Cook for an additional 2-3 minutes until the glaze is sticky.
- Transfer the meatballs to a serving platter and garnish with chopped green onions. Serve warm as an appetizer or over rice.
Notes
- Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
- To reheat, warm in the microwave or on the stovetop.
- For freezing, place cooked meatballs in a single layer on a baking sheet, freeze, then transfer to a freezer bag for up to 3 months.
