Description

Sticky Honey Garlic Chicken Thighs are a delightful dish that combines sweet and savory flavors, featuring tender chicken thighs soaked in a rich, sticky sauce made from honey and garlic.


Ingredients

  • 1 kg (about 2.2 lbs) chicken thighs, bone-in and skin-on
  • 1/2 cup (120 ml) honey
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/4 cup (60 ml) soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons (30 ml) sesame oil
  • 2 tablespoons (30 ml) rice vinegar
  • 2 tablespoons toasted sesame seeds
  • 3 green onions, sliced (for garnish)
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil (for cooking)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the marinade by combining honey, minced garlic, soy sauce, sesame oil, rice vinegar, salt, and pepper in a mixing bowl.
  2. Marinate the chicken by placing it in a resealable plastic bag or shallow dish, pouring the marinade over it, and refrigerating for at least 30 minutes.
  3. Preheat the oven to 200°C (400°F).
  4. Sear the chicken in a large oven-safe skillet with olive oil over medium-high heat for about 5-7 minutes until golden brown, then flip and cook for another 3-4 minutes.
  5. Add the reserved marinade to the skillet and bring to a simmer before transferring it to the oven.
  6. Bake the chicken for 25-30 minutes or until it reaches an internal temperature of 75°C (165°F), basting halfway through.
  7. Broil for the last 3-5 minutes for a thicker glaze, watching closely to prevent burning.
  8. Garnish with toasted sesame seeds and sliced green onions before serving.

Notes

  • For gluten-free, use tamari instead of soy sauce.
  • For lower sugar, consider agave syrup or a sugar-free honey substitute.
  • Add red pepper flakes for a spicy kick.
  • Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
  • Reheat in the oven at 350°F (175°C) until warmed through.
