Description
Strawberry Dumplings are soft, fluffy treats filled with sweet, syrupy strawberries, making them a perfect dessert for summer gatherings or cozy family meals.
Ingredients
Scale
- 2 cups fresh strawberries, hulled and halved
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar (for strawberries)
- 1 cup all-purpose flour, plus extra for dusting
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar (for dough)
- 1 tsp baking powder
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 1/2 cup milk (or plant-based alternative)
- 2 tbsp unsalted butter, melted (or dairy-free substitute)
- 1 tsp vanilla extract (optional)
Instructions
- Hull and halve the strawberries, place them in a bowl, and toss with 1/4 cup sugar. Let sit for 15 minutes to release juices.
- In a separate bowl, mix flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.
- In another bowl, whisk together milk, melted butter, and vanilla extract.
- Combine wet and dry ingredients, stirring until just mixed into a thick, slightly lumpy dough.
- Bring a large pot of water to a gentle simmer.
- Drop spoonfuls of dough into the simmering water, leaving space for expansion. Simmer for 8–10 minutes until dumplings float and are cooked through.
- Remove dumplings with a slotted spoon and place on a serving platter.
- Spoon strawberry syrup over the dumplings and serve warm. Optionally, top with whipped cream or powdered sugar.
Notes
- For gluten-free, substitute with a gluten-free flour blend.
- Use almond or coconut milk and dairy-free butter for a vegan option.
- Add lemon zest or cinnamon to the dough for extra flavor.
- Don’t overmix the dough to maintain a fluffy texture.
