Description
This light and airy strawberry mousse is a refreshing dessert made with fresh strawberries, whipped cream, and fluffy egg whites, perfect for summer or any elegant occasion.
Ingredients
Scale
- 2 cups fresh strawberries, hulled and sliced
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
- 1 cup heavy whipping cream
- 2 large egg whites
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- Optional: additional strawberries for garnish
Instructions
- Wash, hull, and slice the strawberries. Place them in a medium bowl with sugar and lemon juice. Let sit for 10–15 minutes to draw out juices.
- Blend the strawberry mixture until smooth. Strain through a fine sieve into a clean bowl to remove seeds.
- Whip the heavy cream in a large bowl using an electric mixer until soft peaks form. Gently fold in the strawberry purée.
- In a separate bowl, beat egg whites with salt until stiff peaks form. Fold gently into the strawberry-cream mixture to keep it airy.
- Spoon mousse into serving dishes or a large bowl. Cover and chill for at least 2 hours until set.
- Serve chilled with optional toppings like whipped cream, strawberries, or chocolate shavings.
Notes
- Do not over-whip the cream or egg whites; this can cause a grainy texture.
- Use ripe and sweet strawberries for the best flavor.
- Chill your mixing bowls and beaters before whipping for better volume.
- Do not freeze the mousse as it alters the texture.
- For a vegan version, use coconut cream and aquafaba.
