Description

This Strawberry-Pretzel Tart is a delightful dessert with a sweet and salty pretzel crust, a creamy cream cheese layer, and a luscious strawberry Jell-O topping loaded with fresh strawberries.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups pretzels, crushed
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 8 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar (for cream cheese layer)
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar (for topping)
  • 1 tbsp cornstarch
  • 1 package (3 oz) strawberry Jell-O
  • 2 cups strawberries, sliced

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a bowl, mix crushed pretzels, melted butter, and 1/4 cup granulated sugar. Press mixture into the bottom of a 9-inch pie dish to form a crust. Bake for 10 minutes and let cool completely.
  3. In another bowl, beat softened cream cheese until smooth. Add 1/2 cup sugar and vanilla extract, and mix until combined.
  4. In a separate bowl, whip the heavy cream to medium peaks. Gently fold the whipped cream into the cream cheese mixture until light and fluffy.
  5. Spread the cream cheese layer evenly over the cooled pretzel crust using a spatula.
  6. In a saucepan, combine 1/2 cup sugar and 1/2 cup water. Heat until sugar dissolves. Stir in cornstarch and bring to a gentle boil until slightly thickened.
  7. Remove from heat and stir in the strawberry Jell-O until dissolved. Let cool slightly before adding sliced strawberries. Stir to coat the berries.
  8. Pour the strawberry mixture over the cream cheese layer. Chill in the refrigerator for at least 2 hours before serving.

Notes

  • Use gluten-free pretzels for a gluten-free version.
  • Substitute dairy-free cream cheese and coconut cream for a dairy-free option.
  • You can swap strawberries for raspberries or blueberries for a different twist.
  • Ensure crust is completely cool before adding the cream cheese layer to prevent melting.
  • Chill thoroughly before slicing to maintain clean layers.
