Description
Texas Chocolate Pecan Pie is a rich, indulgent dessert that blends the nutty crunch of pecans with smooth chocolate in a flaky crust. A Southern classic with a decadent twist, this pie is perfect for holidays, family gatherings, or whenever you’re craving a comforting slice of sweetness.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 pie crust (store-bought or homemade)
- 3 large eggs
- 1 cup light corn syrup
- ½ cup granulated sugar
- ¼ cup packed brown sugar
- ¼ cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1 cup chopped pecans
- 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- ½ teaspoon salt
Instructions
- Roll out the pie crust and fit it into a 9-inch pie plate. Trim and prick the bottom with a fork. Chill for at least 30 minutes.
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a bowl, whisk the eggs until lightly beaten. Add corn syrup, granulated sugar, brown sugar, cocoa powder, vanilla extract, and salt. Whisk until smooth.
- Fold in the chopped pecans and chocolate chips evenly.
- Pour the filling into the chilled pie crust.
- Bake for 50–60 minutes, until the filling is set at the edges but slightly jiggly in the center.
- Cool for at least 2 hours before slicing and serving.
Notes
- For a deeper chocolate flavor, use Dutch-processed cocoa powder.
- Dark or dairy-free chocolate chips work well for variations.
- Chilling the crust helps prevent shrinking during baking.
- Serve with whipped cream or a scoop of vanilla ice cream for extra indulgence.
