Instructions

- Whisk flour, baking powder, and salt. Gradually add dry ingredients to creamed mixture, alternating with milk; mix until just combined.
- Divide batter evenly into pans. Bake 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean. Cool 10 minutes, then invert onto wire racks to cool completely.
- For filling, cook sliced strawberries, sugar, and lemon juice over medium heat until juices release, about 5 minutes. Stir in cornstarch mixed with water, cook until thickened. Cool.
- Whip heavy cream until soft peaks form. Gradually add powdered sugar, beat to combine. Fold in pureed strawberries until light and fluffy.
- Assemble cake: place one cake layer, spread strawberry filling, then whipped cream frosting. Repeat for second layer and top with third. Frost entire cake and decorate with fresh strawberries.
