Description
A delightful tropical ice cream made with sweet mango and tangy passionfruit, perfect for hot summer days or festive gatherings.
Ingredients
Scale
- 2 large ripe mangoes (about 2 cups of mango puree)
- 1 cup passionfruit pulp (fresh or canned)
- 2 cups heavy cream
- 3/4 cup sugar
- 2 tablespoons lime juice (freshly squeezed)
- Pinch of salt (to taste)
Instructions
- Prepare the mango by peeling and dicing it, then blend until smooth to create a mango puree.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the mango puree, passionfruit pulp, heavy cream, sugar, lime juice, and a pinch of salt. Whisk until well combined.
- Cover the bowl and refrigerate the mixture for at least 2 hours until thoroughly chilled.
- Pour the chilled mixture into an ice cream maker and churn according to the manufacturer’s instructions until it reaches a soft-serve consistency (about 20-25 minutes). Alternatively, pour into a shallow dish and freeze, stirring every 30 minutes for the first 2-3 hours.
Notes
- For a dairy-free option, use coconut cream instead of heavy cream.
- For lower sugar, consider using agave syrup or a sugar substitute.
- Garnish with fresh mint leaves or mango slices when serving.
- Store in an airtight container in the freezer to prevent ice crystals.
