Description

A delightful treat that combines the crunch of saltines with the sweet, cinnamon flavor of churros, creating a rich and buttery toffee.

Ingredients

  • Saltine crackers – 1 sleeve (about 40 crackers)
  • Unsalted butter – 1 cup (2 sticks)
  • Brown sugar – 1 cup, packed
  • Granulated sugar – 1/2 cup
  • Ground cinnamon – 2 teaspoons
  • Vanilla extract – 1 teaspoon
  • Semi-sweet chocolate chips – 1 cup

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and arrange the saltine crackers in a single layer.
  3. In a saucepan, melt the butter and brown sugar over medium heat, stirring constantly until it boils. Let it boil for 3-4 minutes without stirring, then remove from heat.
  4. Pour the toffee mixture over the saltine crackers, spreading it evenly. Bake for 5-7 minutes until bubbly. Remove from the oven, then drizzle with melted chocolate.

Notes

  • Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to a week.
  • For a vegan version, use plant-based butter and dairy-free chocolate.
  • For a gluten-free version, use gluten-free crackers.
