- 1 cup of fresh figs, chopped (about 8–10 figs)
- 8 oz of cream cheese, softened
- 1/2 cup of granulated sugar, divided
- 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract
- 1 teaspoon of lemon zest (from about 1 lemon)
- 1 cup of all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup of unsalted butter, melted
- A pinch of salt, to taste
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease an 8×8-inch baking pan or line it with parchment paper.
- In a mixing bowl, combine the melted butter, 1/4 cup of granulated sugar, flour, and a pinch of salt to form a crumbly dough.
- Press the crust mixture evenly into the bottom of the prepared baking pan.
- Bake the crust for about 10-12 minutes, or until lightly golden, then set aside to cool slightly.
- In a medium bowl, beat the softened cream cheese with the remaining 1/4 cup of granulated sugar, vanilla extract, and lemon zest until smooth and creamy.
- Gently fold the chopped fresh figs into the cream cheese mixture.
- Pour the fig and cream cheese filling over the pre-baked crust, spreading it evenly.
- Bake for an additional 25-30 minutes, or until the filling is set and the top is lightly caramelized.
- Allow the bars to cool completely in the pan on a wire rack, then slice into squares.

- Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to a week.
- For freezing, cut into squares and place in a freezer-safe container for up to three months.
