Ingredients
  

Cake:

  • 2 ½ cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 ½ tsp baking powder
  • ½ tsp salt
  • 1 cup unsalted butter softened
  • 2 cups granulated sugar
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 cup whole milk

Buttercream Frosting:

  • 1 cup unsalted butter softened
  • 4 cups powdered sugar
  • 2 –3 tbsp heavy cream
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • Gel food coloring various colors for flowers

Instructions
 

Bake the Cake:

  • Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour two 8-inch cake pans.
  • In a bowl, whisk flour, baking powder, and salt. In another, cream butter and sugar until fluffy. Add eggs one at a time, then vanilla. Alternate adding dry ingredients and milk.
  • Divide batter between pans and bake for 30–35 minutes. Let cool completely.

Prepare the Buttercream:

  • Beat butter until creamy. Gradually add powdered sugar. Add heavy cream and vanilla until smooth. Divide frosting into bowls and tint with gel food coloring.

Assemble and Decorate:

  • Level cake layers if needed. Spread a layer of frosting between the cakes and crumb coat the outside. Chill for 30 minutes.
  • Use piping bags fitted with flower tips to create buttercream flowers on the cake. Add leaves and finishing touches.
  • Let the cake set for an hour before slicing. Serve and impress your guests with your edible masterpiece!
