For the Cake:
- 2 ½ cups all-purpose flour
- 1 ¾ cups granulated sugar
- 1 cup unsalted butter
- 4 large eggs
- 1 cup whole milk
- 2 tsp baking powder
- 2 tsp vanilla extract
For the Frosting:
- 1 cup unsalted butter
- 4 cups powdered sugar
- 2 tsp vanilla extract
- 2 –3 tbsp milk
- Food coloring optional
Prepare Pans: Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease two heart-shaped pans.
Make Batter: Whisk dry ingredients in one bowl. Cream butter and sugar, add eggs one at a time, and mix in vanilla. Alternate dry ingredients and milk until smooth.
Bake: Pour batter into pans, bake for 25–30 minutes, and cool completely.
Frost: Apply a crumb coat, smooth with an offset spatula, and decorate as desired.
Decorate: Customize with buttercream designs, sprinkles, or edible pearls.
