These maple donut bars are soft, golden yeast-raised treats topped with a rich maple glaze. A homemade take on a donut shop favorite.

Ingredients
  

Dough:

  • 2 1/4 tsp active dry yeast
  • 3/4 cup warm milk 110°F
  • 2 tbsp granulated sugar
  • 2 tbsp unsalted butter melted
  • 1 large egg
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour plus more for dusting

Frying:

  • Vegetable oil

Maple Glaze:

  • 1/2 cup real maple syrup
  • 1 1/2 cups powdered sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 tbsp melted butter
  • Pinch of salt

Instructions
 

  • Mix warm milk, sugar, and yeast. Let foam.
  • Add egg, butter, salt, and flour. Knead 6–8 mins.
  • Let dough rise for 1 hour.
  • Roll out and cut into bars. Rest 30–40 mins.
  • Fry in 350°F oil until golden.
  • Dip in maple glaze while warm.
