For the Brownie Base:
- 1 cup sugar
- 3/4 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/3 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1/2 tsp baking powder
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 3/4 cup canola oil or vegetable oil
- 3 large eggs room temperature
- 1 tbsp light corn syrup
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1/4 cup hot water
For the Pecan Pie Topping:
- 1/2 cup brown sugar packed
- 4 tbsp light corn syrup
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1/4 cup melted butter
- 2 large eggs beaten
- 2 cups chopped pecans
Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and line a 9x13-inch pan.
Make brownie layer: Melt butter, mix with sugar and cocoa. Add eggs and vanilla. Stir in flour and salt. Spread in pan.
Bake brownie base for 20 minutes until just set.
Prepare pecan topping: Whisk syrup, brown sugar, eggs, butter, vanilla, and salt. Fold in pecans.
Pour topping over partially baked brownies.
Bake for another 20–25 minutes, until topping is set.
Cool completely before slicing and serving.
