- 2 ½ cups all-purpose flour
- 1 cup unsalted butter
- 2 cups granulated sugar
- 2 tbsp cocoa powder
- 1 cup buttermilk
- 2 tbsp red food coloring
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1 tsp baking powder
- ½ tsp salt
- 4 large eggs
Preheat oven to 325°F (160°C) and prepare a 9x5-inch loaf pan with grease and parchment paper.
Cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
Whisk flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt in a separate bowl.
Beat eggs into the butter mixture, one at a time, then add vanilla extract and food coloring.
Gradually add dry ingredients, alternating with buttermilk, beginning and ending with the dry mix.
Pour batter into the prepared pan and bake for 50–60 minutes, until a toothpick comes out clean.
Cool in the pan for 15 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack.
Optional: Drizzle with cream cheese glaze or serve with whipped topping.
