Ingredients
  

  • 2 ½ cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup unsalted butter
  • 2 cups granulated sugar
  • 2 tbsp cocoa powder
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 2 tbsp red food coloring
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • ½ tsp salt
  • 4 large eggs

Instructions
 

  • Preheat oven to 325°F (160°C) and prepare a 9x5-inch loaf pan with grease and parchment paper.
  • Cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
  • Whisk flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt in a separate bowl.
  • Beat eggs into the butter mixture, one at a time, then add vanilla extract and food coloring.
  • Gradually add dry ingredients, alternating with buttermilk, beginning and ending with the dry mix.
  • Pour batter into the prepared pan and bake for 50–60 minutes, until a toothpick comes out clean.
  • Cool in the pan for 15 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack.
  • Optional: Drizzle with cream cheese glaze or serve with whipped topping.
